i love when parents step up to the microphone and praise their children. love and pride are standing shoulder to shoulder and it shows. from purposeful posting to cleared throat when friends and family gather—that moment of “hey everyone, i want to tell you something” is a gift.
i imagine a drift of praise settling onto hearts and minds. this blanketing of you-are-important-to-me-i-see-the-effort-who-you-are-is-amazing. chins and shoulders raise in response and they are refueled.
life is this pressing down, pushing back, long distance run for our children. every time we lift them onto our shoulders, our love and approval in full view…. it is handing out samples of what victory tastes like. sometimes it is the keep in the keeping on.
the trinity. that baffling miracle of parts and the same required no communication. but god chose to speak out loud. because he is love. because it matters.
