in front of any stage i watch the background singers. back row of the choir. middle of the marching band. sometimes i watch them more than main attraction. front and center. name in lights.
i find myself lit from within by effort continuing when sound of applause is not louder for you. when visible is never your turn.
inspired by just as much concentration and care for every choreographed motion and note. as if a spotlight shone down.
i listen for the sound of them. in the background. it is filling in spaces and adding depth.
no solo. part of the whole. sometimes name is on the back cover, in smaller font. not always remembered.
but the music would be incomplete without their part.
“whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the lord rather than for men, knowing that from the lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance.
it is the lord christ whom you serve.”
colossians 3:23-24 (NASB)
