in dreams i am slow motion running towards drowning swimmer. determined to take wave’s beating to reach with rescue. bringing back to shore—to where i am already whole.
in truth i am reaching out from just heaved into lifeboat, sharing sips of water and whispering belief in the made and faith in maker.
with you, holding same breath as waves hit.
with you, grasping tighter in the stormed.
with you, learning to loosen grip on each other as savior completes rescue already fully his.
blessed be the lord, who daily bears our burden,
the god who is our salvation. selah.
god is to us a god of deliverances;
and to god the lord belong escapes from death.
